Calatoria de dezvoltare a produsului Faith Travel Association, Mayflower 400 si Plymouth 400, a fost o calatorie uimitoare in doua parti in Anglia si Massachusetts. Calatoria a oferit oportunitatea operatorilor de turism sa experimenteze destinatii legate de pelerini in asteptarea implinirii a 400 de ani in 2020 a calatoriei lor istorice pe Mayflower in 1620. Iata informatii despre portiunea Angliei a calatoriei.
S-au mutat mai intai in Olanda in 1607, iar apoi, desigur, in Lumea Noua in 1620.
Desi majoritatea celor 13 orase pe care le-am vizitat pe acest PDT erau in mod direct legate de povestea Pilgrim, altele au avut o legatura cu America in alte moduri.
Babworth
Boston

In 1607, separatistii au mers 60 de mile pana in portul Boston, unde au aranjat sa navigheze in Olanda.
Southampton
Casa Tudor (Foto de Kay Saffari)
Dupa 12 ani in Olanda si pregatiti pentru un nou inceput in Lumea Noua, pelerinii au petrecut doua saptamani in Southampton adunand provizioane inainte de plecarea lor.
Am vizitat doua cladiri istorice aici: Casa Tudor, o casa restaurata in varsta de 900 de ani si cea mai importanta cladire istorica a orasului, si in apropiere de Biserica Sf. Mihail, construita in 1070 si inca in uz.
In ciuda proeminentei acestor doua site-uri foarte vechi, Southampton a avut un sentiment mai modern in general.
Ea a condus apoi congregatia in Rugaciunea Domnului.
We viewed non-religious texts that included a lawyer’s handbook from the 14th century (including the owner’s doodles in the margins), a book from 600 A.D. written in Latin before the Moors arrived in Spain, and one of only three law school textbooks from the 1100s still in existence. Most fascinating of all were the papyrus fragments from the first, second and third centuries featuring texts written in Greek. We were able to view these remarkable treasures up close, with the librarian turning the pages for us. Groups can make advanced requests to view certain texts and can see them in an accessible room (the library is on the second floor with no elevator) if planned ahead.

Our Lincoln-born tour guide declared this city to be the most charming in England, and I believe he is correct.

In addition to seeing the picturesque British village that is in itself a treat to experience, groups can visit the 12th-century Gothic Lincoln Cathedral and the nearby Lincoln Castle, which was built by William the Conqueror in 1068.
In a windowless vault in the castle, we viewed an original copy of the Magna Carta from 1215, one of only four that exists today. The way the document is displayed—spotlighted in a glass display case in the center of its own darkened room—somehow underscores the significance of this document and its far-reaching influences, even inspiring the U.S. Bill of Rights.
We then climbed the stairs to reach the castle walls, where we had a spectacular view of the cathedral and the rest of the city. Visitors can walk the full perimeter of these walls, although we chose to stay put and take photos instead.
